Advocacy

“Advocacy” can mean many things. According to Disability Rights Wisconsin, advocacy is about speaking up and acting on behalf of yourself or others to make a desired change or outcome. ADRCs have a responsibility to advocate on behalf of their customers as well as a responsibility to advocate more broadly on issues related to aging or living with a disability. Advocating for yourself and others is important because it can help ensure that your needs are met, and your rights are protected.

Advocacy can take many forms, such as contacting your local representatives, attending town hall meetings, writing letters-to-the-editor, and more. By advocating for yourself and others, you can help raise awareness about issues that affect people and help create positive change in our community.
