Physical Therapy...

Physical therapy is a form of health care which focuses on the prevention and/or treatment of physical problems such as weakness, poor coordination and balance, pain, movement dysfunction by using a variety of physical means as well as rehabilitation techniques.

 

Common Diagnoses Include:

  • Stroke/CVA

  • Arthritis

  • Fractures/Joint Replacement

  • Generalized Weakness/Deconditioning

  • Post Surgery Rehab

  • Neurological Diseases such as Parkinson's Disease, ALS & MS

  • Ambulation/Transfer Difficulties

  • Stasis/Venous Ulcers

  • Myocardial Infarction (MI)

Treatments:

  • Progressive Gait Training

  • Therapeutic Strengthening Exercises

  • Balance & Equilibrium Training

  • Wheelchair/Walker Assessments

  • Electrical/Ultrasound Modalities

  • Hot/Cold Pack Treatments

  • Wound Care

  • Whirlpool Treatments

Therapy Goals:

  • Improve transfer abilities

  • Improve gait abilities

  • Improve functional strength, range of motion, coordination & endurance

  • Instruction to caregivers in carryover program

  • Return to independence
