Environmental health is the area of activity which deals with the
protection of human health through the assessment, management, control,
and prevention of environmental factors that may adversely affect the
health, comfort, safety, and well-being of the human population.
The La Crosse County Health Department employs five full-time Registered
Sanitarians, an Environmental Health Manager, and an Environmental
Sanitation Secretary to issue permits, conduct inspections of regulated
businesses and to serve the public through education and enforcement of
applicable local, state, and federal laws.
