Sheriff Sales


Sheriff Sales are normally conducted on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 a.m. in the center hallway of the Courthouse and Law Enforcement Center, 333 Vine Street, La Crosse, WI.

Successful bidders are required to have 10% of their bid in cash, money order or certified check at the time of sale made payable to the "Clerk of Court." The balance is due at the time of confirmation. The successful bidder is also responsible for all legal liens, encumbrances and unpaid real estate taxes.

All properties are sold "as is" and are not available for viewing.

The bank, lending institution or their attorney will put in the first bid. Anyone else can then bid on the property. The property goes to the highest bidder.

The Sheriff's Office does not have any specific information regarding the condition of a property being sold. Persons interested in obtaining information about a property are encouraged to contact the attorney or lender who is foreclosing on the property.

We recently started adding a scanned image of the paperwork involving the sale. If the date or property line is underlined, click on it to see more detailed information concerning the sale.

Sales are subject to cancellation at any time without notice.

Sheriff's sale postings are currently set at $75.00. The actual sale is an additional $75.00.
