La Crosse County contracts with the Family and Children's Center for a certified Community Support Program.  Our aim for them is to live as independently as possible in the community setting.  CSP provides a full range of services to help achieve that goal.  Consumers work with their case manager to identify their needs, goals and a plan to achieve those goals.  Each consumer in CSP has an identified case manager and a vocational specialist.  CSP also provides chemical abuse counseling specific to consumers with a dual diagnosis of mental illness and chemical abuse issues.  Nursing staff are a part of the CSP and provide medical expertise to the consumers and staff.  Medications may be monitored through the nursing staff as part of the treatment plan devised in a cooperative effort between the consumer, the treating psychiatrist and the case manager.
