Alternative Response Alternative Response is a new approach to child protective services in Wisconsin. Eau Claire, La Crosse, Marathon, and Pierce counties and the Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare are implementing Alternative Response in our state. Our goal is to help families get needed services, supports, and other help that will resolve concerns and stressors often associated with allegations of child maltreatment. Alternative Response is designed to help Wisconsin's child welfare agencies meet the needs of children and families. It is based on the belief that families can stay together if they receive the assistance they need when child protection concerns are reported to the agency. Alternative Response creates a partnership between families and caseworkers and is designed to ensure child safety and well-being by addressing the family's issues as early as possible. |
