La Crosse County Health Department does Tuberculosis Screening...

Tuberculosis, or TB, is a disease caused by bacteria called Mycobacterium tuberculosis.  The bacteria can attack any part of the body, but they usually attack the lungs.  TB germs are passed through the air when a person who is sick with TB disease coughs, laughs, sings, or sneezes.

The Mantoux skin test screens for exposure to tuberculosis. Testing is available at the La Crosse County Health Department by appointment on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Appointments can be made by calling Public Health Nursing at (608) 785-9723. The fee is $11.00 plus a $15.00 administration fee.
